Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA is the largest BBBS agency in the Pennsylvania and the fourth largest in the nation. Our rapidly growing, progressive organization places great value on continuous improvement and staff engagement as we strive to provide quality “one to one” mentoring services to youth. In 2007, we served a record 4030 children, and with your support, we are poised to serve still more children in 2008. We offer a variety of different programs, from community-based (CB) to school based (SB) programs involving High School Bigs, College Bigs, Corporate Bigs and our Beyond School Walls program. The intern will be involved in steps throughout the entire process of creating and supporting a match.
The Program Intern (Enrollment & Match Function) will be an integral part of our office and program team, working directly with Bigs and Littles in their matches and helping the agency to reach our goal of 4700 matches in 2009, while gaining experience in a nationally respected non-profit. The intern will also gain valuable skills in interviewing, analysis, program leadership, youth outreach, volunteer engagement, problem-solving, communication, data management as well as getting to be a part of a great professional environment devoted to serving youth. *
*Responsibilities *Scheduling and facilitating match meetings between Bigs and Littles in Chester County and Montgomery County *Securing references *Ensuring that our records for Bigs and Littles are complete and accurate; seeking any missing information *Contacting prospective Bigs and Littles at various stages of their enrollment |

Job Qualifications: |

*Successful candidates: *Will have the ability to learn quickly, think creatively, work independently, and enhance processes *Will be organized, analytical, focused, and detail-oriented and possess the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to reach on-going deadlines *Will demonstrate an ability to work with diverse groups of people *Upon successful completion of the internship, a formal written evaluation/letter of recommendation, as well as any documentation required by the intern’s academic institution, will be provided (if applicable.)
*Academic/Equivalent Requirements: Minimum – Must have completed or is in last year of completing Bachelor's degree in social services, human resources or related field. *Professional: Experience working with both child and adult populations, interview experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages required. Must have a car, valid driver's license, and meet State-required automobile insurance minimums. *Personal Attributes: Must have a customer/client focus, strong interpersonal skills, be results and outcome oriented, approachable and highly organized. Must be a strong judge of character and able to accurately assess people. |
